How do I use silicon carbide to grind my glass?

There are a number of ways you can use loose grit to grind your glass. There are large, slow moving, iron wheels called slurry grinders that you can use to slowly drip a mixture of grit and water onto the wheel head and grind down your glass.

These grinders are fairly commonplace in most education institutions and have been used for centuries for this type of grinding. They are slower to grind but are an excellent choice if you need to remove a lot of material from your glass as the abrasive is relatively inexpensive compared with diamonds for stock removal.

You can also use silicon carbide mixed with water on a piece of plate glass to hand grind your glass if you are on a budget. This is very easy to do and a great way to process pieces without much upfront investment.
