If you order a gallon container of Vari-etch Powder, then you'll receive a bucket that's about two-thirds full of crystals. You add a ENOUGH boiling water to those crystals to end up with a gallon of etching liquid, so you're not actually buying a gallon of powder, you're buying what will eventually be a gallon of etching liquid.
